Since 2021, Vangaži has been part of Ropaži Municipality, not Sigulda Municipality, so the Ropaži Municipality rules and its co-financing for connections apply here. We pump out septic tanks and holding tanks, maintain biological wastewater treatment plants (BIO plants), repair pump stations and build connection pipes.
Vangaži: apartment blocks in the centre, private houses towards the forests
Vangaži is a small town of industrial origin by the A2 road and the railway. The town has apartment buildings, streets of detached houses around them and wooded surroundings in the Gauja basin. The town of Vangaži should be kept apart from the large Ropaži Municipality and from neighbouring Inčukalns, which belongs to Sigulda Municipality and where different rules apply.
Getting to a property can depend on the A2 and railway crossings. In your request, give the exact address and, if the house is on a street in the forest, whether the road can take a lorry after rain.
For apartment buildings and property managers
In an apartment building, sewer problems usually start in the basement. If the building has a pumping well or a pump station, a blocked or burnt-out pump means a flooded basement. We repair and replace sewage pumps, clean pump wells and, if needed, pump out the basement.
For shops and food outlets, we offer grease trap cleaning. Production and warehouse sites in the former industrial areas can use our pumping services for businesses and, if there is no connection, also treatment plants for businesses.
For private houses: a septic tank or a BIO plant in forest ground
On streets of detached houses on the edges of town and near the forests, the sewage system can be decentralised. In a wooded area, two things decide the choice of system: the soil, that is, whether it lets water through, and tree roots, which can grow into the infiltration drains. A drain field is laid out at a sufficient distance from large trees. If there is no room or the groundwater is high, a BIO plant is a better fit.
If an old concrete-ring tank has tilted or has no second chamber, it is replaced or rebuilt. More: replacing an old septic tank.
Ropaži Municipality rules in Vangaži
In Vangaži, Ropaži Municipality Binding Regulations No. 45/22 apply (version of 21 March 2025). The register holder is the municipal company SIA Garkalnes inženiertīkli, whose website mentions Vangaži; previously this was done by SIA Vangažu avots, which was reorganised in 2024. The contract with this company was valid until the end of 2025, and we could not find an extension for 2026. So before submitting anything, make sure who maintains the register at the moment.
- Registration: a declaration (Annex 1 to the regulations, form on uktikli.lv and ropazi.lv) in person, by post or by e-mail with a secure e-signature. In a new build, the system is registered before the building is put into service, and a copy is submitted to the building board.
- Septic tank and holding tank: at least once a year. For a holding tank, the frequency is the annual water consumption divided by the volume; without a meter, 1.5 m³ per person per month is counted. The calculation is reviewed at least once every three years.
- BIO plant: maintenance according to the manufacturer's documentation or the opinion of a competent company; a certificate goes to the register holder within a month after each maintenance.
- Every year by 1 March: the previous year's water meter readings. Pumping documents must be shown on request.
- Changes: must be declared within a month.
- Pumping contractors: only those registered with the Ropaži Municipality Council. The list includes a group that operates throughout the municipality, including Vangaži.
If the register holder finds damage to the environment, it can require the system to be rebuilt or connected to the mains sewer. For violations, a private individual may receive a warning or a fine of 2 to 70 penalty units.

No extension of the register holder's contract for 2026 was found. Checked on 30 October 2026.
A connection with Ropaži Municipality co-financing
In Ropaži Municipality (Binding Regulations No. 34/23), you can receive 50% of the costs of a sewer connection, but no more than €3,000 and €60 per metre; for a water supply connection, up to €2,000. For priority groups (needy and low-income households, large families, pensioners living alone, persons with disabilities, etc.) 100% is reimbursed, up to €8,000 and €120 per metre.
- the support is intended for residential houses;
- the owner has had their declared place of residence in the municipality for at least six months;
- there is no real estate tax debt;
- applications are considered in the order received for as long as the annual budget lasts.
The programme has no end date, but we were unable to confirm that a 2026 budget is available, so ask the municipality before construction. It is also worth checking which company has managed the Vangaži water and sewer networks since the reorganisation of Vangažu avots, because the technical conditions depend on it. We build connection pipes from €25/m: connecting to the mains sewer.
