How the pumping price is made up
The pumping price depends mainly on two things: how many cubic metres are pumped out and how far we have to drive. The rest comes down to access.
- Volume: the price bands up to 4, 6 and 10 m³ match the size of the vacuum tanker's tank.
- Distance: in Riga the price list price applies; outside Riga ~€1/km is added.
- Hose length: if the hatch is far from where the truck can park.
- Condition of the tank: hardened sediment, a thick crust, a frozen or buried lid.
- Several tanks at one address: the price is based on the total volume.
If a holding tank has to be pumped out often, the annual cost is easier to work out from your water consumption: holding tank pumping.
Biological treatment plant and septic tank prices
Septic tank or BIO plant (bio septic tank) prices are hard to compare, because one offer covers only the tank, while another includes the tank with excavation, pipes, infiltration and start-up. That is why our prices are broken down into parts.
- Plant or tank: volume, material, manufacturer.
- Installation: digging depth, soil, pumping out groundwater, anchoring.
- Outlet: drain field, filtration well, ditch or pump.
- Pipes from the house: from €25/m.
- Electricity: for a BIO plant, a cable to the compressor and the control unit.
- Pumping out and dismantling the old system and restoring the surface.
So the price of a bio sewage system including installation starts from €2,550 (plant from €1,750 and labour from €800), but the final amount depends on the outlet and the pipe length.
Three calculation examples
The examples show how the items in the price list add up. These are starting amounts. We give the final price in our quote once the volume, address and access are known.
- Septic tank pumping in Riga A private house in Riga, a 3 m³ plastic septic tank, the hatch freely accessible from the driveway. Pumping up to 4 m³ costs from €75, and there is no travel charge in Riga. Total: from €75.
- Holding tank in the Riga region A house in the Riga region, 15 km outside the Riga boundary, with an 8 m³ holding tank. Pumping up to 10 m³ costs from €110, and the travel charge of 15 km × ~€1/km comes to about €15. Total: about €125 per visit.
- BIO plant for a new house A family of four, clay soil, a 10 m pipe from the house, a 12 m outlet to a ditch. A plant for 4–6 people costs from €1,750, installation from €800, pipes (22 m × €25/m) from €550. Total: from €3,100; after that, maintenance once a year from €160.
What we clarify before the work
- Documents for the building authority (usually an explanatory memorandum) for a new plant or septic tank.
- Power supply for a BIO plant or pump station.
- Restoring paving, asphalt or lawn after digging.
- Pumping groundwater out of the pit.
- Pumping out and dismantling the old septic tank.
We list these items separately in the quote so that they can be compared.
